First Balkan Athletics Gala 2011  

Athletic national team athlete Sevak Yeghikyan participated in SPAR European Cross Country Championships on 11 December 2011 in Slovenia’s one of the beautiful sport centers, Velenje.  He ran in senior athletes’ race 10000m. NEWS

The 4-th European Athletics Convention took place on October 13-15, 2011 in Arona, Spain, which was attended by representatives of 50 European Athletics member federations, including Armenian Athletic Federation. During the Convention the European Athletics Calendar was approved, in which major AAF competitions (World Athletics Day, G. Ghukasyan Memorial, Armenian Championships in Athletics, Robert Emmiyan Cup, Armenian Athletic Federation Cup, Armenian Cross Country Championships, and the 1st International Marathon) were also included. In October 2012 AAF is planning to host the 1st International Marathon in Yerevan for the first time with participation of runners from other countries.

10-th edition of “R. Emmiyan Cup” international competitions took place on September 17, 2011 in Artashat. Long jumpers from different countries participated in the competitions, including men and women athletes from Armenia, Russia, Georgia, Moldova, Slovakia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Cyprus, Lithuania, and Bulgaria.

In men’s competitions Vardan Pahlevanyan took the first place with result 8.00 and set a new record of Emmiyan Cup international competitions.

Robert Emmiyan Cup 2010

9th edition of Robert Emmiyan Cup International competitions was held on 12 September 2010 in Gyumri city. Best long jumpers from Armenia, Russia, Moldova, France, Great Britain, Israel, Bulgaria, Denmark, Greece, Slovakia, Portugal, Latvia, Malta participated in Robert Emmiyan Cup. In women’s competitions Bulgarian athlete Magdalena Hristova took the 1st place with the result 6.27. Latvian athlete Lauma Griva took the 2nd place with the result 6.24 and Russian athlete Elena Ivanova took the 3rd place  with the result 6.12. In men’s competitions Latvian athlete Janis Leitis took the 1st place with the result 7.75. Israel athlete Jochai Halevi was the 2nd with the result 7.75., while Armenian athlete Arsen Sargsyan took the 3rd place with the result 7.71. Full results.

After the competitions a cooperation agreement was signed between Armenian Athletic Federation and French Athletic Federation. This document on cooperation is a unique and unprecedented one for Armenian Athletic Federation. According to the agreement joint training camps for athletes will be organized, as well as educational programs for coaches and referees both in Armenia and France. This Agreement envisages technical and sport activities, including participation of athletes in competitions to be held in France and Armenia, as well as financial and material support to Armenian Federation.
